General Homework Information
All students should read 30 minutes every night. We go to the school library every week to select books. I recommend getting a public library card also if you don't have one already. If you are worried about books getting damaged, they have a wonderful audio and e-book library available online too! (No late fees, no spilled milk--no problems!) Every Galesburg District CUSD #205 student can get a library card from the Galesburg Public Library.
I also expect students to work on math skills at home, especially with keeping math facts fresh and fluent. The more students can use math in their everyday lives, the better, too. Cook together, make maps of rooms to scale to help figure out how to move furniture, play estimate the total at the grocery, figure out the tip together at dinners out--you get the idea!
I will do my best to keep weekends as homework free as possible to ensure time for being with family and enjoying being a child. Working hard during class will help them achieve that.
Spelling and vocabulary tests will be on Fridays. This will work differently on shortened weeks.
If you forgot to do your homework or didn't bring it with you, click the husky picture and fill out the form it goes to. This will send a message to your parent/guardian and me about it. I try to give you opportunities during the day to get ahead on homework, so please use them!
